Grades 5 - 8
In the 5-8 grade classroom, students work hard to meet their goals. As a facilitator of learning, it is important to provide opportunities that foster academic growth within the multi-cultural diversity of today's classroom. Therefore, the upper graders are involved in a variety of educational activities with many projects that encompass math, writing, reading, P.E., research, etc.
Among some of the most memorable activities we find: writing for the school news publication- "The Downers Grove Quarterly," participating in school and classroom outreach activities, delving into virtual and hands-on dissection labs, journaling, special research projects in Science, and making cell cookies.
Reading is an essential part of our day. Literacy is the key to success, and we're continually seeking opportunities to expand our horizons in the literary field through unit study.
As you can see our upper graders are well on their way to becoming well-rounded individuals, in preparation for this world, for heaven and the world made new.
